C020294 ITALIAN “F” RECCE SQUADRON SHOULDER FLASH.

WWII Italian Paratrooper Shoulder Flash for the "F" Recce Squadron. Exactly as pictured in the book Paracadutisti D'Italia by Massimo di Martino, Volume 2, Page 227. From an old shoulder flash collection which broke up recently. After the collapse of the Italian government in 1943, the northern half of the country remained loyal to Germany and continued fighting with the Axis. The southern half formed the "Kingdom of the South" and fought with the Allies. This rare special forces shoulder flash was worn by men of the I Squadrone da Ricognizione Folgore or "F" Recce Squadron (i.e., Folgore Reconnaissance Squadron). These men were trained paratroopers who used jeeps for reconnaissance work similar to the LRDG. One of the rarest Allied special forces insignia of WW2, exact match of the one in the reference book.
