C016483 WWI CANADIAN 64TH BATTALION COLLAR DOGS.
BACKGROUND: The 64th Battalion was authorized and mobilized in Halifax on 20 April 1915 when they embarked for England on March 31, 1916. The battalion provided reinforcements to the Canadian Corps in the field until July 7, 1916 when it ceased to function. On December 7, 1916, it was reorganized and on January 8th, 1917 it absorbed the 37th Overage Battalion, CEF. The battalion was disbanded on July 27th, 1917. The 64th Battalion recruited in Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
