C015273 POST WAR CANADIAN RCAF PILOTS SUMMER SERVICE TUNIC. Three-quarter length, olive light linen fabric summer service tunic with a single-breasted, four button front closure, open neck lapels, and a lay-down collar. There are pleated patch pockets to each breast, with scalloped, button-down flaps, and saddlebag pockets to each hip, with straight-edged, flaps. A small slash watch pocket is also present, but the belt is not included. A vertical tail skirt vent rises from the base of the reverse. The tunic has a partial gold colored silk liner. Sewn into the inside right breast pocket is sewn an oil cloth tag printed with "Sol Max Ottawa", while inside a white oil tag is printed with the information for "F/O F. Maddex May’52". The brass buttons to the pockets, and the larger ones to the front closure, are typical R.C.A..F. type. All have original stitching. A padded R.C.A.F. badge sits above the left breast pocket, as well as a two place ribbon bar for Volunteer Service and the War Medal 1939-1945, while "Canada" shoulder flashes are to each arm, just below the shoulder seam. Piping in the dark blue and lighter blue encircle each sleeve, representing "Flying Officer". The chest measures approximately 40" A very nice clean example that shows light usage and wear.
