C014690 FRENCH SPORTS COMPETITION BADGE.  

A roughly shield-shaped, stamped alloy badge with a silver wash. Along its top is the stylized outline of a bird’s head and wings, with the base of its right wing and its tail detailed to the face of the badge. Across the stylized bird is a more realistic representation of a nude figure, stretching towards the left, with "Nice" embossed in large, vertically-arranged letters to the right. "37e F te Fédérale de Gymnastique 4-5-6 Juin 1938" (37th Festival Federal of Gymnastics 4-5-6 June 1938) is underneath the aforementioned. What appears to be "L. Pin. Nice" is embossed before the figure’s right knee, and what must be the artist’s facsimile signature angles above "Nice," following the wing to the upper right. A vertical pin is soldered to its otherwise featureless, hollow-back reverse.
