C014689 ONE YEAR SERVICE SLEEVE CHEVRON.
BACKGROUND: British and Commonwealth nations issued service chevrons to their officers and other ranks. For each year of service soldiers were issued one chevron. These chevrons were worn on the right lower sleeve with the points up. Canada issued a single white, sometimes known as silver, chevron for twelve months of service for the soldiers who had enlisted before the 10th of September, 1939. This chevron became known as the 39er chevron.
