C014493 1918 ARMATA ALTIPIANI MEDAL.

BACKGROUND: This was an unofficial commemorative medal of the Battle of the Piave, 15-24 July 1918. It was given to Italian, French and British officers; British 23rd (Northern) Division and 48th (South Midlands) Divisions who were on the Asiago Plateau during the battle.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A 32mm bronze medallion with "1918" with three left facing profiles representing Italy, France and the UK. The reverse reads " Nella Fede Fratelli E Nella Vittoria" or "Brethern in Faith and Victory – Army of the Plateau". The medallion is suspended by a mis-matched ribbon.
