

C014194 WWI BRITISH/CANADIAN "SAM BROWN" WEBLEY HOLSTER.
BACKGROUND: The Webley MKIV .455 revolver was known as the "Boer War" Model due to the large quantities of officers who purchased them on the way to partake in the conflict. During WWI the MkVI became the standard sidearm for British and Commonwealth troops as was distributed to all arms of the military.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A brown leather holster approximately 34cm long that tapers from 16.5cm to a 4.5cm diameter bottom. A double stitch seam holds the one piece construction in place with a separate circular bottom stitched to the main body. A brass stud on the fold over flap allows a 13.5cm long strap to secure the cover and allow for a quick release. A square brass ring is secured to the top of a larger shaped leather piece that is double stitched to either end to allow for a belt to be passed through and a brass hook that allows for the attachment to the Sam Browne belt.. The leather has remains strong and supple. No apparent markings.
