C013490 "QUEEN’S OWN RIFLES" SHOULDER FLASHES.

BACKGROUND: In 1830 the 2nd Battalion Volunteer Militia Rifles of Canada formed with headquarters at Toronto. The name changed to 2nd Battalion "Queen’s Own Rifles of Toronto" in 1863. On May 24, 1940 The Queen’s Own was mobilized for war and whose first assignment was the defense of Newfoundland and New Brunswick. In 1941 they were finally posted in England as part of the 8th Canadian Infantry Brigade of the 3rd Canadian Division. They were in the leading wave of the D-Day invasion.
