BACKGROUND: The Webley MKIV .455 revolver was known as the "Boer War" Model due to the large quantities of officers who purchased them on the way to partake in the conflict. During WWI the MkVI became the standard sidearm for British and Commonwealth troops as was distributed to all arms of the military.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A large .455 Webley Revolver, named to Lieut. James Tod 78th Battalion, awarded a Military Cross Sept. 25Th, 1917, (Amiens) enlisted as a private service number 875333 March 31, 1916 into the 184th Battalion, commissioned as an officer October 2, 1916. Also include is his lanyard for the revolver. Measures approximately 34cm long.
