

C012194 "R.C.E.M.E." CAP BADGE.
BACKGROUND: On May 15, 1944 when elements from the Royal Canadian Engineers, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps and Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps came together, the "Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers" was formed. WWII saw an increase of equipment that produced a need to a have a dedicated service to the maintenance of this equipment. Trucks, armoured vehicles, radios and radar had become the technology for this war. The R.C.E.M.E. is made up of 25 different trades and sub-trades and is a centralized structure for maintaining the Army’s equipment.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A stamped brass cap badge measuring approximately 3cm x 5cm with the reverse being a mirror image to the front. Two lugs and cotter pin complete the badge. The badge sits of a section of blue wool/felt.
