C011957 BRITISH FIELD HOWITZER, TOY. This is a Japanese reproduction of a Britains Ltd olive-drab scale model of a field howitzer. The howitzer is a type of artillery piece that typically had a relatively short barrel and was used to propel shells at trajectories with a steep angle of decent. It is made from cast alloy, about 5 1/8" long by 2 " high, with treaded rubber tires on steel rims. The movable barrel has an adjustment rod, which is starting to oxidize, with a round furled adjustment nut. It has a spring loaded firing mechanism with a release trigger that is slightly bent and sticks. Embossed to the underside of the tow end of the gun carriage is "Japan". It retains about 80% of its original paint with chips to the edges of the carriage and one of the tires has a small piece broken from it.
