C008795 KOREAN WAR ERA USAF “CRASH RESCUE BOAT” CREWMAN PIN.

A Sterling silver made pin by Gemsco that was issued to crewmen who operated these small craft to rescue downed airmen. Unlike PT boat badges which came in gold for officers and silver for enlisted personnel, CRBS badges were not made in gold. Therefore, both officers and enlisted personnel on crash rescue boats all wore the same colored badges. Also noteworthy is the fact that for the craft rescue boat squadron badges none were ever presented by the boat company to the boat personnel. All of the crash rescue boat badges seem to have been commercially made both during World War II and the Korean War. Pinback, made by Gemsco of New York. Rare.
