A beautiful grouping that consists of a M1916 soft cap, tunic, trousers, web belt and wool puttees.

1. The M1916 soft cap or "trench cap" could be folded and carried in a pack or pocket. The khaki wool cap consists of a soft crown and visor with a brass "Canada" cap badge affixed via lugs and cotter pin. The visor and front of the cap have reinforced stitching, as well as a leather chin strp with small brass British General list buttons. The interior has a quilted diamond pattern sewn to the interior of the crown with a soft cotton sweatband. A pair of metal grommets are under to the left and right side of the crown. There are three stains to the crown. Approximately size 55.

2. The tunic is a British 1907 pattern, five, 25mm diameter Canadian button front with two pleated patch breast and non pleated/slash hip pockets, all with button flaps. Single metal hook and corresponding eye are to the collar as well. To the integral shoulder straps are brass "Canada", as well as collar dogs to each side of the collar that are held in place by lugs and cotter pin. To each arm, below the shoulder seam is the 3rd Canadian Division, HQ 9th Infantry Brigade formation badges, as well as Lance Corporal rank chevrons. To the right wearing arm, above the rank chevron is a brass Signals qualification badge. Four overseas bars are also present to the same sleeve. To the unlined interior is a black ink stamp "W" arrow "D" representing War Department approved. Brass belt hooks are to either side seam. The chest measures approximately 36".

3. M1902 enlisted pattern straight leg trousers with a three button French fly with an additional pair of buttons to the waist, a pair of vertical slash pockets to each hip, as well as 12 metal dish buttons to the exterior of the waist band to accommodate suspenders. There are no pockets to the rear of the trousers. To the unlined interior is a black ink stamp "W" arrow "D" representing War Department approved. The waist measures approximately 32" with a 30.5" inseam. Very nice pressed seams to the legs. There may have been an alteration to the inside leg seam due to a overlapping of material in the crotch.

4. A 7.5cm wide x 102cm (40") tan/khaki webbed canvas belt with brass fittings. Either end of the belt feature a crimped plate with three grommet holes. One end passes through a sliding length adjustment buckle, is then cinched by a brass retaining loop, and has hooks proceeding from the top and bottom of its crimped plate which wrap around the belt itself. To the center of the belt are doubly rivetted, at diagonal angles, two extended tabs. Each of these terminate, at one end, in brass crimped plates with two grommet holes, and, to the other end, with sliding length adjustment buckles.

5. A pair of khaki wool measuring approximately 9cm x 306cm with a herring bone twill tape. They show light wear with holes to one end.

Of Note: As per the vendor the original owner of this grouping began his career in Nova Scotia before going on to join the 213th Battalion as a Wireless Operator.
