A blued bayonet with black bakelite grips and an olive drab metal and composite material scabbard. Its 25cm, single-edged blade, with a swedge and long fullers shows use and period sharpening. To the reverse ricasso is stamped in an oval "PAL.,"(PAL Blade & Tool) underneath of which is "U." and "S." flanking a a flaming bomb. The blued cross guard has a muzzle ring to its upper extension, and a spring-loaded locking button to the lower side. Its horizontally ribbed bakelite grips are fixed by a counter sunk screw. The 29cm scabbard has a metal throat, painted olive drab, to the obverse of which is stamped a flaming bomb with "U.S." within it. The top of the throat extends backwards and wraps around a metal wire belt hook. Short, hooked posts are to either side of the scabbard opening, which mate with the depressions to the cross guard, that engage with the aforementioned locking button.
