This grouping consists of a jacket and pair of trousers for a Major of "Commissariato" (Quartermaster Corps). Fieldgray twill cloth, four pocket jacket with beautiful black silk velvet collar with blue collar tabs (moth damages). The tunic features four exterior pockets, a four-button single-breasted hidden front closure with a hook and eyelet at the waist seam, that leads to a lay down collar. All buttons are complete and look to have their original stitching that displays the correct insignia for the Quartermaster Corps. The pleated patch breast and hip pockets each have straight-edged flaps. The rare removable shoulder straps are of the same material as the tunic, and bear officer’s golden bullion insignia of Quartermaster Corps framed in a golden gallon, for the Senior officer. Above each cuff is rank insignia representing major. The tunic bears blue piping at the shoulder boards, collars and cuffs. The chest measures approximately 46". The M34 Officer trousers, fieldgray twill cloth, turn-up trousers, a model seen only for a senior officer in the HQ, quite rare indeed. The cuff of the trousers helps to make the trousers "fall" better and to anchor them to the shoe. According to tradition, it would have been King Eduardo VII of England who had the brilliant idea of folding the hem of trousers (let's also call them trousers) to avoid getting them dirty or wet. The waist measures approximately 42" with a 28.5" inseam.
