C007795 BRITISH 7TH ARMOURED DIVISION SHOULDER FLASHES.

BACKGROUND: the 7th Armoured Division can trace its beginnings to the Mobile Division that was formed just before the Second World War in the desert of North Africa. The Mobile Division became the 7th Armoured Division on February 16th 1940 and after a visit by the wife of the Divisional Commander, General Creagh, to the Cairo Zoo she produced a design of a desert rat (the Jerboa) which was approved by the officers and men of the Division. The official patch was drawn by Trooper Ken Hill of RTR. The 7th Armoured Division what on to become one of the most famous formations of the British Army, the Desert Rats.
