The Soviet "Excellent Artilleryman" (Отличный артиллерист) badge was awarded during World War II to rank-and-file and junior command staff who demonstrated outstanding skill in artillery and anti-tank shooting, as well as excellence in weapon camouflage and care. Created in May 1942, this proficiency badge honored soldiers for their direct damage to the enemy, proficiency with artillery pieces, and maintaining their equipment. The badge typically features a cannon and wheat wreath with a central Soviet emblem. Red enamel badge 4.5cm x 4cm badge complete with screw post back and cap. Shows typical usage and wear with some enamel missing to the bottom point.
