A pair of brass body binoculars, standing approximately 11cm tall, with their original brown leather case. The binoculars have a black finish, with black leatherette covering the sides of the main body of both lenses. Edge wear may be seen to the top and bottom of the body, and the smaller lenses. Its eye sockets are of black bakelite, which are complete.. The vision is excellent with no spotting or fogging. The ocular’s rotate smoothly and focus clearly and the central joints move freely. To the left side of the top of the body is inscribed "Binocular Prismatic No. 3 MkII Magnification 6 No. 37461" while embossed to the right side is "Graticules 1/2o APART AND 1/2o, 1o AND 1 1/2o HIGH. A. Kershaw & Son Ltd Leeds 1918". A large broad arrow can be seen to each of the front plates. Original leather strap is included. The 18cm x 13cm x 6.5cm, slightly curved, brown leather case features a top fold-over flap fixed to the rear by a riveted leather hinge, such that it opens inwards when the case is attached to a belt. Stamped to the outside of the flap is "Case No.3 Prismatic Binocular" with "J. Cripps 1916". The hinge is riveted to the body of the case towards the top and the bottom to form a large belt loop. The case is also embossed with the "broad arrow" to the front. Very nice example.
