C006891 BRITISH WWI MK VII MARCHING COMPASS WITH CASE.

It is a prismatic Verner’s Pattern Compass Mk VII. Verner Patter VII were widely used during the First World War. Verner’s pattern is based on Charles Augustu Schmalacarder’s patent. The solid brass construction measures approximately 5.5cm in diameter and 2cm thick with a hinged cover that is engraved to the perimeter "Verner’s Patter" "VII" and to the bottom is engraved "Ed Koehn Geneva, Switzerland" "No. 22089" and is dated for 1915. Included is a brown leather pouch that measures approximately 9cm x 6cm x 3cm that is marked to the front "J.A Jacobs & Co. Ltd. 1914" along with a broad arrow mark. The interior is lined with a brown velvet. All buckles are complete and intact. The leather shows some surface scratches. The compass does not appear to show "true north".
