BACKGROUND:
A purge of the State Police in 1941, resulted in the creation of two main branches; Ordenspoliti (Order Police) and Sikkerhetspoliti (Security Police). The Ordenspoliti dealt with regular maintenance of order and prevention of non-political crime, that operated similar to the S.D. in Germany which in essence, combated subversion. The Security Police, worked with the German S.D., but cam under the district control of the S.S.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: An early M31 helmet whose design was taken from the Swedish M26. The helmet has five rivets that attached directly to the liner and chinstrap bales. The chinstrap is attached directly to the liner band. The helmet has had the original decal being scratched removed, but the outline is still visible. Scratches visible to the paint from usage/wear. Marked "II" to the interior band. Of Note: There were less than 8500 members of this force which makes these helmets with this insignia very scarce. Approximately size 64.
