C005294 BRITISH PIAT Mk.4 PROJECTILE (Inert/Deactivated).

BACKGROUND: The PIAT (Projector, Infantry, Anti-Tank) was an unusual cross between an anti-tank rifle and a bazooka, effective best against side armor at 100 yards. Although noted as difficult to initially cock, and having considerable recoil, it was unique in that it could be fired in enclosed spaces without risk to the operator. Its 3 pound hollow-charge projectile was fed into a trough to the front of the 32 pound projector where a spigot was driven, by a powerful spring, up its hollow, flared tail assembly, detonating the propellant to the projectile’s head. The recoil re-cocked the weapon automatically.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A brown painted head, cup, tail tube and fins. A fuze is present, as well as the thimble and transit ring, but all interior workings are not included. There are various markings that include "Mk 4", as well as lot markings, and broad arrows.

Please note, due to Postal Regulations. De-activated firearms and Inert Ordnance may not be shipped outside of Canada.
