C004794 MKII "A.R.P. Police" HELMET.
BACKGROUND:
The A.R.P. (Air Raid Precautions) organization was responsible for procuring and issuing of Civil Defense helmets in the UK during WW2. Helmets where issued to workers in areas and factories that where likely to be bombed by the Luftwaffe.PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Standard MKII military production example. Retains most of its original paint. Shell is marked "G.S.W" and "DP & H". Canadian made helmet, note the General Steel Wares mm, and the D.P. & H. is for Dept of Pensions and Health. Complete original MKII pattern liner, sized and dated for 1942. Complete original MKII chinstrap. Decent example of an A.R.P. helmet.
