C004495 IRISH REGIMENT OF CANADA MAJOR’S SERVICE DRESS.
A wool cut away tunic with the front cut out and tapered away toward the hips. Four brass buttons are to the front with a lay down collar and integral shoulder straps. Two breast pockets with scalloped flaps, as well as two hip pockets with straight flaps, with curved fronts that follow the lines of the jacket, are present. All buttons are identical to those running to the front. Matching bi-metal collar dogs represent the Irish Regiment are present to each point. Each shoulder strap has a brass crown denoting the rank of Major with "Canada" brass shoulder tiles. A three place ribbon bar is hand sewn above the left breast pocket that represents the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, King George VI Coronation Medal, and the 1939-45 War Medal. The interior is fully lined. The manufacture tag originally sewn to the outside of the breast pocket has been removed. The chest measures approximately 38". It appears that the rank insignia has been changed due to the remaining holes in the shoulder strap. The belt that is included, does not appear to be original to the tunic due to the size (too big). There is also an outline above the left breast pocket indicating that only a partial ribbon bar is present. Included are a pair of pristine, un-used Fox’s “F.I.P.” wool puttees.
