The Balmoral Bonnet, which is known as the Tam o'Shanter, originated in 1915, as a replacement for the Glengarry, to be worn by Scottish troops in combat. A fawn/tan bonnet comprised of a crown with a tan coloured wool Touri (pom pom) to its center, a body with a seam to the rear with a period red hackle to the left side. The interior is lined with a “sweat shield” that bears the manufacture label for “Wm Scully Limited, Montreal” beneath. (Ex Taboika Collection)
