C002791 USS CONNECTICUT PRIMITIVE FOLK ART PAINTING.
A 28cm x 52cm, 1890’s American Primitive Folk Art Painting of the dreadnaught USS Connecticut of the Great White Fleet possibly attributable to Seth Arca Whipple. A beautiful piece of American Folk Art in the Primitive style of oil painting. American Primitive is exceptionally hot right now in fine art circles. This well-rendered piece by an unidentified American folk artist (possibly Seth Arca Whipple, who is known to have painted the USS Michigan) depicts the flagship of the famous Great White Fleet, which was sent around the world by President Teddy Roosevelt to showcase America’s rising global power and position. A remarkable level of detail typical of Whipple’s work captures the USS Connecticut in perfect detail. Archivally presented in a beautifully-matched wooden frame. The reverse is protected by clear Plexiglas which allows the rear of the canvas to be seen.
