C001989 8TH BATTALION (90TH WINNIPEG RIFLES) SERVICE DRESS JACKET.
A British M1918, five button front jacket that leads to a stand and fall collar that bears brass collar insignia for "C/8" for the 8th Battalion. There are a pair of integral button shoulder straps to each side of the collar with brass "Canada" shoulder tiles that are marked "Caron Bros. Montreal Ltd. 1916. To the front are a pair of pleated breast pockets with button flaps, as well as a pair of hip pockets, also with button flaps. A single dart extends from the collar at an angle to meet at the top of each breast pocket intersecting a horizontal seam running from the collar to the top of each breast pocket. Affixed to the left wearing breast pocket is a small brass and enamel badge for the 1st Canadian Division. Sewn to each arm is a formation badge for 8th Battalion (90th Winnipeg Rifles). All buttons show the "Little Black Devil" which is a nickname they acquired. A pair of brass belt hooks are also present along the side seams. The interior is partially lined along the seams and pockets. The sleeves are lined in green material similar to that of the partial lining . The flaps of the pockets at the front are also lined in identical green fabric. A manufacture label for the tunic is affixed to the interior that reads "L. Phillips, Civil & Military Outfitters, Westminster". There is some light surface wear with some light moth tracking. The chest measures approximately 36".
