C001780 9TH USAAF "Captain Herman Steinke" UNIFORM GROUPING.

This large, named grouping, consists of an Officer’s valise with various articles of clothing and named sleeping bag. The articles include:

An Officer’s field overcoat with wool liner that has a 48" chest, a named, M1926 Officer’s Overcoat that has a 42" chest, A "40L", Ike Jacket that has collar dog insignia showing "U.S." and "Quarter Master", as well as a 9th USAAF shoulder flash, captain rank bars on the shoulder straps and a two year overseas bars. A long sleeve Officer’s dress shirt with a 15.5" collar and 42" chest, as well as a pair of named "pink" trousers with a 34" waist and 32" inseam has a zipper front, nice pressed seams and manufacture tag. Other articles include a khaki neck tie, pair of socks and a winter and khaki overseas cap. The winter overseas cap has a pair of rank bars denoting the rank of Captain to the left size. Both are unmarked.

All items are in very good clean condition. Worthy of further research. Of Note: The 9th USAAF participated in the Middle East, and the invasion of Sicily and Ital before being transferred to the UK in October 1943 to participate in the Normandy Invasion.
