C001491 U.S. AMERICAN DEFENSE 1940 MEDAL.

A die struck bronze medal measuring 3.5cm in diameter is suspended from a yellow, blue, white and red silk ribbon with the original swing hinge pin to the reverse. Of Note: Although the medal pre-dates the entry of the US into WW2, the National Guard was inducted into Federal Service in 1941 and therefore recognized for their service prior to December 7, 1941. Attached to the ribbon is the "Fleet" bar. Of Note: Fleet Clasp: Issued by the Navy, Marine Corps and United States Coast Guard for service on the high seas while regularly attached to any vessels of the Atlantic, Pacific, or Asiatic fleets as well as vessels of the Naval Transport Service and vessels operating directly under the Chief of Naval Operations.
