This is a Model 1872 Kepi from the Indian war period . The blue wool is in excellent condition with no nothing , A 1 1/4 sweatband is completely intact all stitching is strong throughout the kepi , The two general service buttons are two piece design and show no back marks , The black leather chin strap , the black tarred visor and brown leather sweatband are in remarkable condition , There is a makers label in the top of the Kepi , hard to read but Boston Mass is clearly visible , pinned to the top is a brass cavalry insignia with the number 7 above the letter C just a foot note c troop 7th cavalry was commanded by captain Thomas Custer This complete 100% original Kepi is a key item for the Indian Wars that replaced the Civil War pattern
