C042373 8TH USAAF PATCH.
Although it was originally activated as the VIII Bomber Command on the 19th of January,1942, it began to conduct strategic bombing operations in Europe as the 8th Air Force on the 17th of August, 1942. This large, blue wool patch is machine embroidered with a majority of the wool missing, probably due to mothing. It has embroidered "1945" "Special Service" "Victory Souvenir from London". The patch measures approximately 13cm x 16cm.
