BACKGROUND: The D.L.V. was established by forcibly, although legally, incorporating all civilian flying clubs, as well as the flying units of the S.A and S.S., into it in 1933. After 1935, when the secrecy regarding aerial re-armament was lifted, it served mostly as an Airforce reserve and training ground for future members of the Luftwaffe. It was itself incorporated into the N.S.F.K. ("National-Sozialistisches Flieger-Korps;" National-Socialist Flyer-Corps) in 1937.
