BACKGROUND: The D.L.V. was established by forcibly, although legally, incorporating all civilian flying clubs, as well as the flying units of the SA and SS, into it in 1933. After 1935, when the secrecy regarding aerial re-armament was lifted, it served mostly as an Airforce reserve and training ground for future members of the Luftwaffe. It was itself incorporated into the NSFK ("National-Sozialistisches Flieger-Korps;" National-Socialist Flyer-Corps) in 1937.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Winged propeller, as worn on the collar tabs of the D.L.V. ("Deutscher LuftsportVerband;" the German Air-sport-Association) uniform (probably, specifically the "Abteilung Segelflug;" Glider Section), introduced in 1935 and worn until that organization’s dissolution in 1937. All complete and with original prongs.
