




L007694 KW 1/33 PROTECTIVE WINTER FLIGHT SUIT. (Fliegerschutzanzug für Winter)
BACKGROUND: Development of protective flight uniforms and equipment began with the advent of military aircraft in WWI and continued on into the Weimar and the Third Reich eras, resulting in three distinct one piece combination pattern flight suits being approved before WWII and worn for the duration of the war with minor modifications.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Scarce example of a early war Luftwaffe winter worn flight suit or "Fliegerschutzanzug fur Winter." Features all of its original bakelite buttons, metal snaps and functional zippers (all corrosion free and complete with there leather sewn handle tabs). The suit is constructed in a grey velveteen fabric that is consistent throughout with a few areas showing shallow holes of moth nips across the fabric. What is most prominent is a tear sustained on the lower right side pocket. The collar is faced with a dense brown fur that shows appropriate signs of age. Underneath the collar are complete with its double snap closure and straps. The suit is lined with a white course fur that is well retained throughout the interior. Underneath the large button placket remains an ink stamp that reads "Gr. Ia" indicating the size of the suit along with its Luftwaffe inspection stamp and manufacturer label that reads "Karl Heisler, Berlin C2". Also to make note is the half meter emergency ripcord system that are unique on these suits. This is one is all intact having that hidden pull ring still attached, not always common. These
are hard to find.
