BACKGROUND: The Luftwaffe utilized a wide variety of assorted protective garments that included over-gauntlets that were classified as Sonderbekleidung, (Special Clothing). The protective garments were only issued to personnel when engaged in specific functions and were to be returned to a units stores for reissued as required although it appears the order was not strictly adhered to. The protective garments were utilized by a variety of personnel including motorcyclists, armoured vehicle personnel and Flugzeugabwehrartillerie, (Anti-Aircraft Artillery), personnel.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Nice quality, multi-panel, brown leather construction gauntlets with long extended cuffs. The gauntlets have a fit adjustment strap on the upper sides of each at the wrist with a retaining clip and two male and one female snaps. The gauntlets have a separate index/trigger finger and thumb. Looks to be early construction.
