L001695 HAUPTMANN BALTHASAR PHOTOGRAPH POSTCARD.

BACKGROUND: Balthasar was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross on June 14TH 1940 while serving as Hauptmann and Staffelkapitan of the 7TH Group of the 27TH Fighter Squadron for his early success against the British. Although Balthasar achieved less than seventy five aerial victories, his early successes were rewarded by being the seventeenth recipient of the Oak leaves to his Knight’s Cross on July 2ND 1941. Balthasar survived the war.
