L001292 CIVILIAN MEMBER'S OF THE ARMED FORCES BADGE. (Wehrmachtgefolge Abzeichen)

BACKGROUND: Introduced in October 1941 for wear by all non-uniformed civilian members of the armed forces when serving in occupied or axis countries.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: A 36mm diameter, die struck alloy badge. Badge in the form of a stylized eagle's head, flanked by stylized Gothic letters, "WG", above a small canted swastika, all encompassed by a circular border. Reverse well marked with embossed designer's name, "Fec. O. Placzeck Berlin", and manufacturer, "Ausf. C. E. Junker Berlin". Complete with horizontal pin-back device (clip portion of the pin is missing). Of Note: The Wehrmachtgefolge badge was issued in two sizes, with this example being the larger of the two. In a December 1941 order it was decreed the larger badge was only to be worn by female personnel and the smaller badge by male personnel.
