K012391 "WHAT EVERY GERMAN U-BOAT PERSONNEL MUST KNOW", BOOK. (Buch)

BACKGROUND: Although there were official training manuals issued by the M.Dv., Marinedienstvorschrift, (Naval Service Regulations), there were also numerous semi-official and unofficial training booklets with the most famous being the Reibert series of training booklets. These semi-official and unofficial training booklets generally gained the approval of the High Command and were encouraged to stimulate interest in joining the Armed Forces.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Roughly 20cm x 13cm, forty page, unofficial training book compiled by, "Korvettenkapitän (Ing.) Max Bartsch", and published by, "Wilhelm Limpert", in Berlin in 1940. The mid-weight card stock cover of the book has a full color, cut-away drawing of a submarine with all the components numerically marked, from one to forty, with a corresponding glossary list of the individual components. The front cover also has the black printed title, "Was jeder vom deutschen U-Boot wissen müß", (What every German U-Boat Personnel must know). The text examines all the basic information required for personnel serving on a U-Boat including both offensive and defensive weapons. The book has five black and white photographs and three line drawings that reinforce the text. The book is in overall good condition with the pages showing minor age yellowing but they are all intact.
