K011091 ADMIRAL'S VEHICLE PENNANT. (Kraftwagen Dienstwimpel)
BACKGROUND: Following German Military traditions, new command flags/pennants for high ranking naval personnel were first introduced in the Third Reich era in 1934. Command flags/pennants of other commanders were introduced at a later date and followed the basic pattern of the army’s command flags. In July 1941 regulations dictated that the vehicle service pennant for Admiral ranks was to be trimmed with golden tress.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: 1941 pattern, dual sided, multi-piece, vertically ribbed, woven navy blue cotton/rayon blend construction, triangular, Admirals vehicle service pennant. Roughly 36cm long, 24cm tall pennant features a navy blue background field with machine embroidered national eagle in golden yellow threads with brown thread accents to the center of each side. Eagle’s wingspan is roughly 15cm from wing tip to wing tip. Top, bottom and hoist edges of the pennant are all trimmed in 25mm wide, ribbed gilt tress with a repeating, interwoven, canted swastika pattern. Hoist edge has an internal, tunnel looped, brass suspension rod. Nice!
