K007289 GRADE FOUR MARKSMEN'S LANYARD. (Abzugsschnur)
An award given to enlisted men and NCOs only, and discontinued in 1940, it takes the form of a dark blue braided lanyard terminating in a oval rosette constructed of smaller braided cords. To the top of the rosette, and the base of the lanyard, are button loops, each with ball slides. The top button loop would have attached to a small button under the right collar or shoulder strap of a uniform jacket, while the lower loop mated with one of the upper buttons to the front closure of the same jacket. Sewn to the front if the original 4th grade shield. Rare!
