A typical army issue dispatch case used for maps, compass, pencils and plotting instruments. Constructed from age-darkened cowhide, the case is approximately 34cm in height, 25cm wide, and can expand to 9cm thick if full. The forward fold-over flap has a metal alloy,five-pointed star attached via tangs above the five pointed stitched star. Beneath the flap is sewn a leather strap with corresponding single prong buckle. The original hanging straps are complete to the reverse. The right facing, leather pencil/pen pockets are missing on the front panel.
