J009563 (IJN) MARKSMAN BADGE WITH PRESENTATION CASE.

A light wood box measuring approximately 4.5cm x 5.5cm x 2cm with kanji script embossed to the cover contains a slightly convex brown enamel badge that is approximately 3cm in diameter. It features a two sprigs of cherry laurel with a pair of gold gilt matchlock rifles with barrels pointing upward to the center with a downward facing goose to the top and a cherry blossom directly below. The original hinged, vertical tapered pin with catch device, along with two lines of kanji characters completes the flat back. The badge shows some dulling and darkening to the surface typical of its, age. Overall a very nice example.
