J007863 (IJN) SEAMAN'S SLEEVE INSIGNIA.

A 5cm x 7cm black rayon patch coming to a point at its base. This type of insignia, in use from 1942 until the end of the war, formed the base to which could be added horizontal bars, distinguishing Second Class, First Class, and Leading Seamen, and which would also feature a cherry blossom above the anchor in colors which would denote the wearer’s arm of service. Nice untouched example.
