J005389 (IJA) M98 (1938) MAJOR GENERAL’S SERVICE TUNIC & TROUSERS.  

A high quality, private purchase, partially-lined, service tunic constructed from olive drab colored cloth. Its single-breasted front closure has five, flat buttons to it, each of which are of gold/brass-colored metal, single hooks and eye at the throat, and all five original collar liner attachment studs. Matching red wool tabs representing the rank of Major General have hand stitching to each collar tab, on each side of the collar. Two button-down pocket flaps and two unbuttoned, straight pocket flaps are to the hips. Each cuff has a triple braid, as well as a single star. Awards loops (four) for a breast badge to the right chest just under the pocket flap with three loops above the right hand breast pocket for medals. The chest measures approximately 34". There is some light moth tracking to the surface. Included are a pair of matching trousers with a 36" waist and a 27.5" inseam. A very nice pleat to the front.
