J002582 (IJA) M43 (1943) GENERAL’S SERVICE TUNIC.
Tunic for IJA General Teiichi Yoshimoto. Bone in 1987, graduated from military academy in 1908.
Graduated Army war college in 1916. On May,1908,he was appointed second lieutenant of the army
infantry and in December, ordered to attend on the 12th Infantry Regiment. In
August,1931, moved up to be a Colonel of the Army. He was promoted to Major General, to Infantry 21st Brigade Commander in march, 1936,
to Lieutenant General in March, 1939 and to 2nd Brigade Commander. To General in May, 1945.
He committed suicide in September ,1945. He received Order of Rising Sun 1st
Class in 1940. Light
weight, high quality, issued service tunic constructed from olive drab colored
cloth. Its single-breasted front closure has five extra high quality fire gilted
flat buttons to it, dual hooks and eyes at the throat, along with five original
collar liner attachment studs. Matching, again high quality, Generals collar
tabs are hand sewn to the collar in the typical fashion. Two button-down,
scalloped pocket flaps, with exaggerated points, are to the chest while two
unbuttoned, straight pocket flaps are to the hips. Each cuff has a triple braid,
as well as three stars. Awards loops (four) for a breast badge to the right
chest just under the pocket flap. Nice Tokyo tailors label. Owners initial to a
tag on the interior. The chest measures approximately 38". Name is
stitched to the interior Yoshimoto (吉本). Scarce original
General’s tunic.
