J001392 (IJN) OFFICER'S VISOR CAP WITH REMOVABLE WHITE COVER.
An Imperial Japanese Navy officer’s visor cap, first introduced in 1905 and used until the end of the Second World War. The cap’s one-piece dark blue wool crown retains the internal stiffening wire along its edge. The four-piece body, in the same color and material, has seams at each of its cardinal points, with two metal grommet ventilation holes under each side of the crown. Cap is complete with its original removable white top cover. The tightly-woven black center band with nice quality IJN officers insignia affixed to the front. The cap has its original chinstrap, finished in black, with dual adjustment sliders, fixed over each ear by gilt-washed alloy buttons with embossed anchors and cherry blossoms to them. Visor in good condition. Blackened oilcloth sweatband is very nice and complete as well. Several kanji characters sewn to the top inside liner which would be the owners name.
