G014676 EARLY PRUSSIAN DRUM.
Most probably produced in the 1849 to 1866 period (German revolutionary colors of black, red and gold). From 1867 Prussian state colors of black, red and white where used. Its possible it could have been used or produced as late as 1870 , since black, red and gold are also the battle colors. Roughly 37cm tall drum with a 22cm wide metal midsection with a 5.5cm wide wooden top and bottom rim that is painted in the revolutionary colors of black, gold and red. There are nine pair of ropes that connect the top and bottom rims with leather, triangular sleeves that can be adjusted for a specific sound and tension. There is a small puncture to the metal to the mid-section. The heads measure approximately 40cm in diameter. Very cool item and is in very good condition for its age.
