BACKGROUND: A common practice in Europe that continues to this day, is the issue of a remembrance card on the death of a family member. These would be distributed to friends and family as a memorial item

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: This black and white bi-fold card shows a black and white portrait of "Herrn Anton Berndl" whose date of death was "1. November 1916" (Battle of Artois) at the age of 35. Opposite the portrait is a prayer as well as having a black and white and colour illustrations. The card shows moderate/heavy usage and wear as there is evident tearing. The photo and dedication can still be seen in itís entirety.
