G007469 DOG TAG.
(Erkennungsmarken)BACKGROUND: Evaluations of German/Prussian losses in battles during the Austro-Prussian war of 1866 and the Franco-Prussian war of 1870-1871 resulted in the discovery that many of the dead were unidentifiable, which led to the introduction of the first military identification, (dog), tags into the Prussian army in 1878.
