G006785 PRE WW1 BOXER REBELLION GERMAN EAST ASIA PHOTO ALBUM.

Typical maroon-lacquer Chinese style album with Chinese motifs, contains 25 mostly-portrait photos of men of the German East Asia Expeditionary Korps (Ostasiatisches Expedition Korps) which served in the German colony in Peking China at the time of the Boxer Rebellion. The photographs are all approximately postcard-sized, and are faded with age, but the images can be fully recovered by scanning as the two included modern prints made by scanning two of the photos in the album demonstrate. There is some fantastic historical material here of German colonial uniforms in a rare photograph album that would sell for $2500 if the photos were all in perfect (i.e., un-faded) condition. The album measures approximately 16cm x 20cm and consists of 13 double accordion style pages. There is some chipping to the front and rear lacquer covers.
