WW1 German army-issue medical officer’s bag constructed of heavy gray canvas (a material commonly associated by collectors with the Luftwaffe in the Second World War) with leather closure straps, leather shoulder strap and extensive original contents. The bag has one outside end pocket on the short side The bag also has the original leather plate on the top surface for the doctor’s name tag or Carte d’Visite. The inside of the bag is lined with red felt wool which is now faded to an orange or burnt sienna color. There is one main inner body cavity, and a full-length side panel which creates a second, wedge-shaped body pocket when pulled out to the open position. In the open position, this would allow the doctor to more easily access the contents during treatment. In order to properly close up the bag, the side pocket has to be folded closed (i.e., be empty of any contents.) Dozens of original WW1 German medical items remain in the bag as found. All leather straps are present with one small strap broken in half and is included.  This is a very rare piece of WW1 German medical equipment in amazingly good condition for its age. The case measures approximately 19cm x 25cm x 29cm. Of Note:  The interior of the bag has been built up with removable inserts to allow for the original contents to be displayed.
